The BMGSNO provides a maximum grant of HK$80,000 for each eligible needy elderly owner-occupier and his\/her spouse (if married).<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<p>The basic criteria for the BMGSNO are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The applicant must be a holder of a valid Hong Kong Identity Card and aged 60 or above;<\/li>\n<li>The applicant must be the owner of a residential flat in a private domestic building or composite building;<\/li>\n<li>The applicant and his\/her spouse (if married) must be residing in the subject property; and<\/li>\n<li>The applicant must fall within the following income and asset limits (or be receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance or Old Age Living Allowance):<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\u00a0<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Monthly Income Limit<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Asset Limit<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\">Singleton<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\">$10,710<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\">$1,203,000<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\">Couple<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\">$16,330<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">\n<p align=\"center\">$1,824,000<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Use of the Grant<\/h3>\n<p>The Grant can be used not only for building safety related to maintenance works in the building\u2019s common areas, but also in the applicant\u2019s residential flat. Common examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improvements to structural aspects of the building: e.g. repair to loose, cracked, spalled or otherwise defective concrete;<\/li>\n<li>Improvements related to the safety of the external elevations of the building: e.g. repair to defective rendering or mosaic tiles;<\/li>\n<li>Repair or replacement of defective windows;<\/li>\n<li>Removal of unauthorized building works or illegal rooftop structures;<\/li>\n<li>Repair, maintenance or replacement of lifts, fire services installations and equipment, electrical wiring, gas risers, defective waste pipes, soil pipes, rainwater pipes, fresh water pipes, vent pipes or underground drainage; or<\/li>\n<li>Repair of waterproofing membranes on rooftops and flat roofs, or works to alleviate water seepage problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants can also use the Grant to repay their outstanding loan with the Government in relation to building maintenance, and\/or de-register the relevant legal charge\/charging order.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.22&#8243;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Things that you need to know before signing a Tenancy Agreement or a Lease&#8221; module_class=&#8221;posttitle&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.7&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;] G. An adoption in Hong Kong must be effected in accordance with the <a href=\"#\">Adoption Ordinance , Cap. 290<\/a> , Laws of Hong Kong.
