B. Referral lines for Refuge Centres for Women \u00a0offering 24-hour Admission (Addresses are kept confidential)<\/h2>\n

Four refuge centres for women, including the Dawn Court, Wai On Home for Women, Harmony House, Serene Court and Sunrise Court, provide temporary accommodation and support services for female victims of domestic violence and their children.\u00a0 Social workers of the refuge centres provide counselling and conduct therapeutic and educational programmes for the residents to help them overcome their traumatic experiences and rebuild self-confidence.\u00a0 The four refuge centres accept admission round-the-clock.<\/p>\n

The Family Crisis Support Centre<\/h3>\n

The Family Crisis Support Centre (FCSC) operated by Caritas-Hong Kong provides a time-out facility and an integrated package of services for helping people under extreme stress or facing a crisis to manage their emotions and seek a positive solution to family problems, including domestic violence.<\/p>\n

Multi-purpose Crisis Intervention and Support Centre (CEASE Crisis Centre)<\/h3>\n

The CEASE Crisis Centre, operated by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, is a crisis intervention and support centre which aims to provide comprehensive support to victims of sexual violence and individuals \/ families facing domestic violence or in crisis.\u00a0 Services provided include a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention \/ an immediate outreach service for adult victims of sexual violence and elder abuse. It operates after the office hours of the Social Welfare Department, and can provide short-term accommodation for victims when it is temporarily not suitable for them to return home, or short-term accommodation for those individuals \/ families in crisis.<\/p>\n

Temporary Shelter \/ Urban Hostel for Single Persons<\/h3>\n

If temporary accommodation is required, you may apply for temporary shelter at the urban hostel for single persons through the referral of social workers.\u00a0 The Urban hostel for single persons provides short-term accommodation and counselling for needy persons so as to help them find alternative long-term accommodation.<\/p>\n

Compassionate Rehousing<\/h3>\n

Compassionate Rehousing is a form of housing assistance, which aims at providing assistance to individuals and families who have genuine and imminent housing needs, but cannot solve the housing needs by themselves.\u00a0 Under this scheme, conditional tenancy can also be recommended to help those who are under going divorce proceedings (including victims of spouse battering) and having genuine housing needs while awaiting the court decision on their divorce applications.\u00a0 People in need of the service may apply to the social workers concerned.<\/p>\n

Adoption is a legal process by which parental rights and responsibilities over a child are transferred from the birth parents to the adoptive parents. An adoption in Hong Kong must be effected in accordance with the Adoption Ordinance , Cap. 290<\/a> , Laws of Hong Kong. The guiding principle in the adoption process is the \u201cbest interests of the child\u201d ( section 8<\/a> of the Adoption Ordinance<\/a> ).<\/p>

Local adoption service in Hong Kong is provided by the Adoption Unit of the Social Welfare Department and three non-governmental organizations, as Accredited Bodies:<\/p>
